Can-Am is a subsidiary of Bombardier Recreational Products, founded in 1972 and based in Quebec, Canada. More famous for snowmobiles, the company produced off-road motorcycles from 1972 to 1987, and in 1997 began production of ATVs together with a revolutionary three-wheeled motorcycle. Known as the Can-Am Spyder, the vehicle had a single rear driving wheel and two wheels in front for steering, similar in layout to a modern snowmobile, using an ATV-like chassis. The engine was supplied by Bombardier's sister company Rotax, a 1000cc Vee twin with fuel injection and a 5-speed gearbox. In the UK, you can ride the Spyder with a full car licence (category B) and a full motorcycle licence if you are over 21 years old.

At a cost of £33,500 new, the Can Am Spyder is a rare sight on UK roads. This 2010 example is the RT LTD model, a more touring focused version with built in panniers and top box giving plenty of storage space. Can Am loaded the design up with some clever safety technology including traction control, anti-lock brakes and Dynamic Power Steering, making it handle more like a sports car than a motorcycle. A unique vehicle that gives you the thrill of riding a motorcycle, but with more comfort, weather protection and carrying space. Showing just 22,000 miles on its speedo, it recently passed an MOT and will be supplied with some receipts for service work carried out in the past and a current V5C. Included in the sale will be a full cover, Tom Tom sat nav, lock, footbord light kit, tank bag and an Optimate charger.
