The world-famous Land Rover was launched in 1948 and developed from a single offering to a family of long and short-wheelbase derivatives with an ever-increasing choice of engines. The ‘One Ten’ was introduced in 1983. Further differentiated from its Series III predecessor by a taller one-piece windscreen, modernised interior, and more sophisticated Range Rover-derived permanent four-wheel drive system, the newcomer gained a shorter wheelbase sibling, the ‘Ninety’, in 1984. With their superior load capacity, handling, and ride comfort, the ‘One Ten’ (110) and ‘Ninety’ (90) proved strong sellers.

The 110 Defender offered was supplied new to the Armed Forces, entering into active service on the 22nd of January 1990, being registered as ’12 KJ 36’. A V8-engined variant, the Land Rover features the 3528cc Rover V8 petrol engine with the five-speed manual transmission. Seeing active service with Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (REME) on the Falkland Islands, the Land Rover was de-mobbed in 2003 to Witham (Specialist Vehicles) Ltd. Understood to have remained with them in storage for around a decade, the Defender was eventually road-registered and sold to the public in 2013 by DropZone military disposal specialists.

Purchased by the vendor in 2014, a Titled Gentleman, the Land Rover has since been used locally and has covered some 6,300 post-demob miles. Thought therefore to have covered just 20,102 miles from new (indicated 13,902 miles in service and 6,300 post-demob miles), the Defender still boats its recovery equipment including a heavy-duty tow bar and convoy beacon. Supplied with a history file that contains the disposal sheet, comprehensive post-demob MOT history, previous invoices for maintenance and servicing, MOT until April 2027, and a current V5C document, the Defender is also accompanied by its military flags, and is due to receive a service ready for sale.

PLEASE NOTE: Originally registered on an ‘S’ registration due to a mistake by the DVLA who had the Land Rover declared manufactured in 1999 when registered post-demob, there is correspondence on file with the DVLA allocating the registration mark ‘G890 UNU’ due to its being the corrected age-related mark for a vehicle manufactured in January 1990, however, the declared manufacture date on the V5C has not been corrected by them.
