Registration No: A6 FBR
Chassis No: SCAZN0005GCH15013
MOT: January 2027
The Silver Spur was the moniker adopted by Rolls-Royce for the long wheelbase versions of the Silver Spirit, and belonged to a new generation of models that also included that marque's Flying Spur, Silver Dawn, Touring Limousine and Park Ward, and the Mulsanne and Eight Series models of its sister company, Bentley. Penned by Fritz Feller, the range was first represented at the 1980 Paris Salon and was a welcome replacement for the long-serving Silver Shadow and its siblings. The design was not entirely new, however, and employed the floorpan of the outgoing model as well as its proven OHV 6750cc V8 powerplant. The opulent newcomer was lower and longer than its predecessor though and, courtesy of its finely-tuned hydraulic self-levelling suspension, was said to provide the best roadholding ever offered by the marque at that time. There were a total of four iterations of the range, via which the models remained in production until 1998.
First registered on 11 February 1986 and specified in the ever-attractive Silver Sand Metallic with contrasting cream leather interior featuring a brown leather dashboard, this Silver Spur benefits from leather headlining, picnic tables, footrests and lambswool over-rugs. Having reputedly spent a large portion of its life as a chauffeur-driven car, in more recent years this charming example has been enthusiast-owned and enjoyed. In January of this year, the car benefited from works in preparation for sale with Kell Green Classics, to the tune of £2,284. Works included some paintwork and an interior refresh, as well as replacement wheel spheres being fitted. Now showing an impressive and warranted 34,475 miles on the odometer at the time of consignment, and with a current MOT valid until 15 January 2027, the vehicle is accompanied by a comprehensive history file housed in a wonderful leather holdall. Included within is the original Rolls-Royce owner's manual, as well as the service book, which contains 16 stamps—12 of which are from Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Ltd. Also included is a comprehensive collection of invoices for works undertaken, a large collection of MOT certificates, and the current V5C document, which displays just six former keepers most of which were from the same family. Some Rolls-Royce literature is also present, including the Autocar book. Overall, a fantastic opportunity to acquire a low mileage example of this long wheelbase Rolls-Royce, presented in an attractive colour combination and is now both MOT and Tax exempt.
