Mot Expiry: Oct 2012

Twenty-five years after its triumphant introduction, what's now known as the Range Rover 'Classic' gave way to the second generation of the model (codename P38A). By then the 4x4's original workmanlike persona had been completely transformed - the original hose-down rubber flooring and basic trim giving way to increasingly deep pile carpets, leather upholstery and wood cappings. The newcomer brought a strengthened chassis and less boxy exterior, while power was now provided by upgraded 4.0 and 4.6-litre versions of Rover's ubiquitous all-alloy V8 engine and suspension via an improved version of the company's air system.

One of several popular limited editions to be based on the P38A was the Holland & Holland; a collaboration between the renowned London-based gunsmith of that name and Range Rover specialist Overfinch. Most were finished in Dark Green with Brown leather upholstery and sported such niceties as an advanced stereo system (incorporating boot-mounted CD autochanger), gun boxes and Holland & Holland inscriptions. 'X512 EBT' is one of these. A two-owner example it is felt by the vendor to have "good" bodywork, engine and automatic transmission, "very good" interior trim and "good" paintwork (save for the odd scratch and chip). Being sold at No Reserve, it boasts a "full history of all work carried out and services" plus current MOT (expires October 12th) and road fund licence (expires September 31st).
