Martini inspired Porsche 911 ‘RSR’ Tribute to head under the hammer

  • Unique 1978 Porsche 911 3.0 litre RSR Tribute is consigned to H&H Classics’ November sale
  • Based on one of just 3,318 RoW ‘L-Series’ 911 SC Coupes it has had a reported £100,000 spent on it by its current owner, including a recent £8,000 engine overhaul
  • Dressed in the iconic Martini colours, paying homage to the vendor's daughter, a member of the Williams F1 team

A stunning looking 1978 Porsche 911 3.0 litre RSR Tribute, complete in the iconic Martini Racing livery, is to head to H&H Classics’ auction on 29 November at The Pavilion Gardens, Buxton.

Based on one of just 3,318 'Rest of the World’ (RoW) specification 'L-Series' Porsche 911 SC Coupes from the 1979 model year, the car has been extensively restored and reimagined at a cost exceeding £100,000 by the current owner. Inspired by the 911 RSR racing cars of the 1970s and 1990s, this road-going tribute has just been subject to a recent £8,000 engine overhaul.

Nicknamed BOLT – due to its number plate – the car comes with extensive documentation of its restoration and transformation as well as a history file with service invoices and receipts dating back to 1984 from the likes of Charles Follett Ltd, Waldron OPC, Bianchi Porsche, Stuttgart Connection and Autostrasse during the 1980s and into the 1990s.

“BOLT’ is a truly exceptional tribute to the 911 RSRs from that period,” said Damian Jones, senior sales specialist at H&H Classics. “From the £100,000 the vendor has spent on the vehicle, to the iconic livery which is a great nod to the vendor’s daughter who is part of the Williams F1 team, BOLT is expected to appeal to motorsport fans.”

The car, along with many other lots soon to be announced, will head to H&H Classics’ Pavilion Garden sale in Buxton on 29 November. Viewing of all the lots is available on the day before and the day of the sale itself. Bidders can bid in person, online, via telephone or by leaving a commission bid.
