H&H Classics has enjoyed a successful start to 2026 with its first auction of the year seeing notable individual results and a high sales rate of 78 per cent in front of a packed auction room.
In a glorious setting matched by wonderful weather, one hundred and twenty-three lots went under the hammer on Wednesday 18th March at Kelham Hall in Nottinghamshire resulting in total sales of almost £2.6 million.
One of the star lots which saw strong bidding was a no reserve 1937 Frazer Nash-BMW 328 Roadster which was eventually hammered away for £360,000, also the highest price achieved on the day.
It is a rare and splendid example being one of just 48 right-hand drive BMW 328s from a total production run of 464, while it is potentially eligible for several of the historic motoring world’s most significant events.
Classic cars from the 1960s also did particularly well including a matching numbers, UK-supplied ‘barn find’ 1962 Porsche 356 B S-75 Reutter Cabriolet which sold for £42,188, more than double its lower estimate.
A right-hand drive model, it is among the most compelling barn find opportunities to come to light in recent years.
Also from the same year was a highly-desirable 1962 Jaguar E-Type 3.8 Coupé home-market example with matching numbers that found a new home for £117,000, which was £17,000 above its lower estimate.
James McWilliam, sales manager at H&H Classics, said: “What an incredible start to 2026 for H&H Classics. The packed auction room at Kelham Hall was buzzing with bids from those attending in person, matched by strong interest on the phones and on-line.
“It resulted in a successful auction which bodes very well for our other seven classic, collector and performance motorcar sales this year which take place at three convenient locations.”
Other highlights from Kelham Hall include a 1938 Delage D8-120 Four-Seater Special which was hammered away for £59,625, almost £20,000 above its lower estimate, and a 2015 Land Rover Defender 90 Pick-Up, showing just 124 miles from new, that fetched £67,500, which was £17,500 above its lower estimate.
