1979 Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow II Anniversary
One of Just 75 UK-Supplied Anniversary Examples

Lot details

Registration No: FGL 291V
Chassis No: SRH38062
MOT: Exempt

  • One of just 212 Anniversary examples made to commemorate the 75th anniversary of Rolls-Royce
  • Chassis number two of the Anniversary cars
  • One of just 75 UK-supplied examples
  • Only 60,712 miles from new (atoc) with only four former keepers

The Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow was built from 1965 to 1980 and was the first Rolls-Royce to be constructed using a monocoque chassis and, to date, has the largest production volume of any Rolls-Royce. Aside from a more modern appearance, the Silver Shadow introduced many new features such as disc brakes instead of drum brakes and independent rear suspension rather than the aging live axle design of previous cars. In February 1977, the Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow II was introduced. Outwardly the models were identifiable by bumpers with rubber inserts and edges made from polyurethane. The Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow II Anniversary was launched in 1979 to commemorate Rolls-Royce 75 years existence; since the company was founded in 1904. The Silver Shadow II Anniversary can be recognised by red badges on the grille, boot lid and in the door openings. Furthermore, every Anniversary has a plaque in the glove compartment of the dashboard.

Manufactured in 1979, this right-hand drive, UK-supplied Anniversary is fitted with the 6750cc V8 engine mated to the automatic gearbox. Finished in the attractive colour combination of Walnut paintwork with Beige leather interior upholstery. ‘FGL 291V’ has covered just 60,712 miles from new (at time of consignment) and has had just four previous keepers. One of just 212 Anniversary examples made to commemorate the 75th anniversary of Rolls-Royce, and only 75 manufactured for the home-market (as per the plaque in the glove compartment), SRH38062 is the second chassis number of all the Anniversary examples produced.

Offered with a large collection of past MOTs and invoices, the mostly complete book-pack and toolkit. Subject to engine fettling in 2016 by Perranwell Garage (a Morgan main dealer) to the cost of approximately £1,740, the Rolls-Royce has further benefited from a reconditioned actuator assembly and new bonnet and boot seals in 2019. A rare example of the Anniversary cars.
