The limited edition "Classic" proved a success for Norton, demonstrating that a civilian market existed and was receptive to the rotary engine concept. Consequently the firm decided to produce a civilian version of the P52 Commander police motorcycle aimed at the touring market. As with the later P55 F1 model, the P52 Commander had been styled by the London based design duo Seymour and Powel, the result was a machine that was both stylish and effective and which, with very few modifications could be adapted to produce a high quality touring motorcycle.
This example was owned by Norton until 2003 when it was purchased by the vendor at the Norton factory auction. It is described as being in excellent condition cosmetically and in regard to the cycle parts. The vendor was told by the factory that a new engine had been installed shortly before the auction. It is offered with a V5 registration document.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
