Missing our catalogue print deadline is this late-entered AC Cobra, one of only fifty righthand drive MkIVs ever built and a genuine aluminium-bodied Cobra no less. Hand-made in 1989 by AC Cars Limited of Brooklands, Surrey, this Guards Red roadster - with side louvres in stainless steel, all black interior, windwings, Perspex sunvisors and black mohair hood - was supplied new by marque specialist Rod Leach's 'Nostalgia' to the first of only three owners who have only driven it 5300 miles from new.
We understand that the American Ford V8 of 5-litres capacity has been decatalysed and is fed by Holley carbs. The cylinder heads have been mildly reworked, a revised air filter system and oil cooler fitted and rocker covers polished. Power output has been increased to around 260bhp. A manual-shift 5-speed gearbox has been employed.
Fuel and hydraulic lines are by Aeroquip. The suspension has been converted by lowering with front and rear anti-sway bars added. The Alpine stereo radio-cassette is removable and there is an original fascia-mounted rearview mirror. The knock-on wheel spinners are triple-eared with polished bronze finish. An extended tool kit in a tailored roll and a custom-made car cover are also included. Wisely, this investment is well protected by remote-control cut-off/immobiliser.
With the current condition described as being A1 throughout as well as the fullest history on file and an MOT very freshly renewed...real Cobras really don't come much better than this.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
