Combining two of Porsche's most famous name tags, the 'Carrera' series 911 debuted at the September 1983 Frankfurt Motor Show. Powered by a new 3164cc 'flat-six' engine that developed some 231bhp and 209lbft of torque, it was reputedly capable of 0-60mph in 5.6 seconds and 153mph. Further benefiting from a galvanised two-door bodyshell, all-round independent torsion-bar suspension, four-wheel disc brakes and rack and pinion steering, the newcomer boasted a blend of performance, reliability and practicality that few rivals could match.
Finished in blue with brown leather upholstery, this particular left-hand drive example is variously described by the vendor as being in "fair" (interior trim), "good" (engine, manual gearbox, electrical equipment) or "very good" (chassis, bodywork, paintwork) condition. Said to have had just two owners since being imported from Germany and to have covered 130,758 km (approximately 81,600 miles) from new, 'WAZ 9526' sports a front air dam, Fuchs alloy wheels and a 'whale tail' rear spoiler. Reportedly treated to a "respray, lowered suspension, new clutch and brake system overhaul" in the past few years, the coupe is further understood to have been kept in a dry garage and used mainly for shows and Porsche meetings. A handsome car, this early 911 Carrera is offered for sale with "original history book, previous MOTs, large file of bills", MOT certificate valid until May 31st 2007 and road tax.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
