Lot details Registration No: VEF 21X Chassis No: WFOFXXGBBFBC71894 Mot Expiry: Nov 2005
The first Cortina, the Dagenham-built MkI, was launched in 1962, though only with 1198 or 1498cc engine options. The GT Cortina with 83bhp and front disc brakes was available from 1963 and was soon joined by a 105bhp Lotus twin cam version.
This Cortina, a MkV 2-litre saloon to the top-of the-range Ghia luxury specification, first left the Ford factory in 1981, since when, the entrant tells us, the right-hand drive four-door has been well cared for. Indeed, he says, VEF 21X is an excellent and very clean example of one of the last of the Cortinas which has been part of a collection supplying vehicles for film and TV commercials.
Current condition of bodyshell is rated by the vendor as good with gold paintwork and alloys also good, and beige tooth cloth trim excellent. 1993cc four-cylinder engine, three-speed auto transmission and electrical equipment are all reportedly in good order. The car has also been freshly MOT tested.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
