The first of Porsche's water-cooled, front-engined GTs, the 924 was launched in late 1975, employing much Volkswagen technology and components and being built for Porsche by Audi; the 2-litre 4-cylinder four being a development of the Audi 100 power unit and the 4-speed transaxle coming from VW.
The 944 followed six years later and was constructed along similar lines to the 924. Although similar in shape, the bodywork was 50mm wider and the overhead cam motor was of 2.5-litre capacity and had twin balancer shafts to counter vibration. The transmission consisted of a rear-mounted, 5-speed transaxle. Turbocharged, 16-valve and cabriolet versions followed.
According to the vendor of this 1986-manufactured 944 Turbo, the high powered fixed head is in good all round condition, the body and white paintwork said to be very good and the brown leather interior good. The 2500cc 4-cylinder motor, electrical equipment and 5-speed manual transmission are reportedly in good order. The 90,337 miles displayed when entered is believed to be the genuine total mileage from new.
