One of only 142 R33 GTR V-Spec S1 cars to be finished in Super Clear Red, chassis number 002032 is understood to have had just one Japanese keeper before being imported to the UK by a family friend of the vendor in 1997. Entering the current (second UK) ownership six years later, the Skyline was promptly entrusted to JPD Automotive of Chelmsford for a thorough engine overhaul. Upgraded to ‘Group A’ specification, the original straight-six was fitted with: HKS 264 camshafts, two HKS 2530 turbochargers, HKS 1.2mm metal head gasket, HKS adjustable fuel regulator, Nismo 550cc pink injectors, Apexi Power FC ECU and Perkins race spec main and big end shells etc. Completed some 28,000 miles ago, the work cost £11,297.54 and reportedly resulted in a power output of c.450bhp! JPD Automotive also carried out a respray in 2009 (£3,500) and installed a new timing belt and water pump during 2011 (approximately 8,000 miles ago). Returning to the same firm for light recommissioning in July 2018 at an indicated 72,960 miles, the Nissan’s odometer reading has since increased to 75,400 miles. Riding on very rare and desirable Work Racing Rezax five-spoke magnesium alloy wheels, the four-seater also sports a genuine Nismo steering wheel. Exceptional value given its performance potential, this desirable R33 GTR V-Spec is worthy of close inspection. Offered for sale with history file (encompassing bills / invoices dating back to 1997) and MOT certificate valid until June 2021.

Model Background:

Introduced on January 6th 1995, the fourth (R33) generation of Nissan’s iconic Skyline GT-R series was the first production car to lap the Nurburgring in under eight minutes. A quantifiable improvement over its R32 predecessor, the newcomer boasted better weight distribution, superior aerodynamics and uprated mechanicals. Powered by a twin turbocharged 2.6 litre straight-six DOHC 24-valve engine allied to five-speed manual transmission, the four-seater also boasted four-wheel drive and four-wheel steering. Credited with developing some 276bhp and 271lbft of torque in factory tune – outputs sufficient for it to sprint from 0-60mph in 5.0 seconds and onto 155mph – the Coupe’s true potential was soon being unlocked by the tuning community. Available in standard or V-Spec guises, the latter featured a lower ride height, stiffer suspension and active limited slip differential. The dominant force in JGTC GT500 racing, the R33 won its class every year until eventually being toppled by the McLaren F1 GTR! Of the 16,668 fourth generation Skyline GT-Rs made, just 4,095 were V-Spec S1 cars.
