Lot details Registration No: NDY 911 Chassis No: WP0ZZZ91ZES103864 Mot Expiry: Sept 2010
Developed under the watchful eye of Porsche Chief Executive Peter Schutz, the 911 Carrera 3.2 made its debut at the September 1983 Frankfurt Motor Show. Visually indebted to the outgoing 911 SC, the newcomer wore a revised front valance complete with auxiliary driving lamps and a subtle 'Carrera' script on its engine lid. Available in coupe, targa and cabriolet guises, it remained faithful to established 911 practice by employing all-round independent torsion-bar suspension, four-wheel disc brakes and rack and pinion steering. Estimated to be eight percent new, the model's 3164cc (hence '3.2') flat-six engine was credited with developing some 231bhp and 209lbft of torque. Allied to five-speed transmission, it proved both rev-happy and flexible. Reputedly capable of 0-60mph in 5.3 seconds and 153mph, the Carrera 3.2 was progressively developed over the course of its six-year production run
Finished in red with black upholstery, this particular example is described by the vendor as being in "very good" (engine, five-speed manual gearbox, electrical equipment) or "excellent" (bodywork, paintwork, interior trim) condition. Stated to have covered just 1,800 miles since entering the current (eighth) ownership during May 2005, the Porsche is further understood to have had "a new clutch kit fitted in 2001 at 134,000 miles". Appropriately road registered as `NDY 911' and apparently retaining "every MOT certificate", the Carrera's odometer is now said to show some 141,000 miles. Valuing its number plate at approximately £3,000, the vendor also tells us that the Porsche possesses a current MOT certificate valid until September 2010.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
