Lot details Registration No: UN-REG Chassis No: SAL311/04881 Mot Expiry: May 2006
Discovered in California, where it had been unused and preserved in storage since 1997, this 1969-dated and left-hand drive Datsun 2000 roadster was reputed to have been in receipt of a US-standard restoration in 1987. The 8407 mileage displayed when entered for this sale is believed to be the genuine total since the rebuild.
On acquisition, the vendor imported the Japanese-made open two-seater and recommissioned it, reporting that it is not only nice to drive, but surprisingly quick. The all-important paperwork to show that duty has been paid and to enable UK registration is included with the car as are assorted spares, workshop manuals and an original handbook as well as details of a very helpful early Datsun spares supplier in California.
The current condition of the body, both panels and chassis, is said to be good as are the wheels, which are shod with new tyres. Red paintwork and black vinyl interior are reportedly good, too, the 2-litre four-cylinder engine in good order and the five-speed manual gearbox and transmission serviceable. Freshly MOT tested, the current certificate will be valid until May of next year. A Datsun like this is certainly different.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
