112,368 Triumph TR7s were produced between September 1974 and October 1981, first at Speke, Liverpool, then at Canley, Coventry, and finally, from 1980, cars were built by Rover in Solihull. The Harris Mann styled, wedge-shaped bodyshell of unitary construction was powered by an inclined 4-cylinder, single overhead camshaft engine of 1998cc capacity which produced 105bhp. Initially, a 4-speed gearbox was fitted, though a 5-speed transmission was employed from late 1976.
The 1980-manufactured TR7 is presented in John Player Special black and gold livery with beige interior with tartan inserts. We understand that it has had only two owners, one of them a keen and fastidious member of the TR Owners Club, and the 67,000 miles displayed on the odometer when entered for this sale is believed to be the genuine total mileage from new. The overall condition of bodywork, paintwork, trim, 2-litre engine and 5-speed gearbox are described as being A1. The car also drives well with no rattles or squeaks, says the vendor. The MOT is current until next March.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
