Lot details Registration No: DS 8645 Chassis No: 4516252 Mot Expiry: Tba
Subtly restyled for the 1928-model year, the Chevrolet National gained new, more rounded wings and a higher scuttle line. Based on a 107-inch wheelbase ladder-frame chassis equipped with all-round semi-elliptic leaf-sprung suspension and (for the first time on a Chevrolet) four-wheel drum brakes, it was powered by the marque's redoubtable 171ci (2.8 litre) OHV four-cylinder engine allied to three-speed manual transmission. Available in a variety of open and closed guises, the model boasted such niceties as a chassis lubrication system, indirectly lit instrument panel and thermostat.
Finished in black over white with tan upholstery, this particular right-hand drive example is variously described by the vendor as being in "good" (engine, gearbox, chassis, wheels / tyres), "very good" (electrical equipment, bodywork, paintwork) or "excellent" (interior trim) condition. As well as having its "engine reconditioned and rebuilt in 1992", 'DS 8645' is said to have been the subject of more recent work including "a new battery, fuel pipes, rebuilt starter, general overhaul and MOT". Riding on wooden artillery wheels, this handsome Vintage tourer is offered for sale with sundry paperwork and historic class (free) road tax until July 2007.
PLEASE NOTE: While we believe this 1928 Chevrolet Tourer to be a 'National' model, we have been unable to definitively identify it as such.
