Following their success at the 1972 Imola 200 when Paul Smart and Bruno Spaggiari had achieved a 1, 2 with machines developed from the recently introduced 750cc GT bevel drive vee-twin, Ducati were quick to announce a more obviously sporting model in the form of the 750cc Sport, this was followed in 1974 by the Desmo equipped production racer, the 750cc Super Sport. The new model was endowed with 40mm Dell'Orto carburettors and a 10:1 compression ratio combined with cycle parts that reflected its track aspirations. Built in limited numbers it is now one of the most highly sought after Ducati motorcycles. 1977 witnessed the introduction of the 900SS in response to the improved performance of rival machines. Early variants were equipped to a similarly Spartan level as the 750 Super Sport, however later models were better equipped and more reliable losing some of the earlier models purity and performance.
This 1981 example was entrusted to Tony Brancato during 2003 - 2004 with instructions from the owner to restore it to a specification reflecting the early version.
Described as being in excellent condition throughout it is attractively presented in silver and blue with wire spoked wheels. Offered with a Swansea V5.
