Lot details Registration No: NPH963P Chassis No: GAN616813UG Mot Expiry: May 2006
The postwar MG Midget is related to the second version of the Austin-Healey Sprite that Donald Healey redesigned by restyling the front end of the Frogeye MkI with conventionally located headlamps and incorporating an MG-styled tail design.
Offered here is a 1976-manufactured Midget, an always right-hand drive car with the benefit of the larger and more torquey 1500cc engine. According to the entrant, having spent the first seventeen years of its life sheltered from the ravages of road salt in sunny Cyprus and being reportedly sound as a result, the open sports has only has two owners since returning home in 1993.
Currently, shell and panels, red paintwork, black vinyl trim, four-cylinder engine, four-speed manual gearbox and electrics are all reportedly in good order. The 98,000 mileage indicated when entered is believed by the vendor to be the genuine total for the 1500 Midget.
Although no details of the latest MOT were available by our catalogue press day, the vendor was intending to have had the car tested by sale day. Prospective bidders and purchasers are therefore advised to check out the latest certificate in our documents office at Buxton.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
