1987/88 Jaguar D-Type Evocation

Lot details
Registration No: T.B.A.
Chassis No: T.B.A.
Mot Expiry: None

There can be few competition cars surely, especially ones that are still on-the-button and race-ready, that can boast having clocked up lap records at Mallory, Cadwell, Oulton and Brands to win 162 races! And yet this is the impressive record set by the vendor driving this really well replicated D-Type Jaguar long-nose.
Constructed in 1988, the Adrian Reynard designed chassis was substantially re-engineered by Ray Mallock. The specification includes several components made from titanium, including the roll-bar, rose-jointed suspension, adjustable shock absorbers, AP Racing braking system and Minilite one-piece alloy wheels.
Estimated to be worth at least £11,000 in its own, the 4.2-litre six-cylinder engine has competition crankshaft, conrods, pistons, oil pump and sump, special flywheel, several items from US specialists Gran Turismo and competition oil cooling system. Made from stainless steel, the big-bore exhaust is re-packable and exits at the side. The four forward speed (plus reverse) manual gearbox has been re-engineered with over £1000 worth of close-ratio competition gears by Alan George and there is a limited slip differential.
Thus equipped, the car has been the quickest and most successful Jaguar-engined `Replicar' on the circuits. Car and driver have been a regular `Best in Class' award, race and championship winner at JCC, JEC, 750 MC and AMOC meetings over many seasons. Even in its most recent race, 31 July at Donington, and with a novice driver at the wheel, this car did a 1 minute 21 seconds round the Club circuit, 3 seconds quicker than the next Jaguar XK lap time. The vendor says that he would make available to a new owner buying the car today five albums containing a full race by race photographic record.
Since that Donington event, the vendor assures us that the car has been carefully maintained and always stored in secure premises of a high standard. The current condition of the chassis, he says, is very good, the bodywork in BRG and grey/black leather trim both good, and the period alloy wheels very good. The full race spec engine is reportedly still fresh, the gearbox newly built and the electrical equipment claimed to be in very good order. He reckons, to date, to have invested over £80,000 into making and maintaining this Jaguar race car in event winning condition.

All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.

You can collect your new pride and joy from our venue until 1pm the day following the sale or our partners are on hand to help arrange safe transportation:
