Ariel adopted a telescopic fork for all of their models during the late forties but were slower to follow Royal Enfield and AMC in the adoption of a pivoted fork rear frame, instead offering the option of an "Anstey Link" system. This resembled a plunger frame, but in fact the principle was nearer to a pivoted fork system, with small swinging arms, controlled by springs within the plunger like spring boxes. Effective when new the system was prone to wear and eventually a swinging arm frame design was adopted.
This 350cc machine is described as dating from 1949, although the frame design suggests a slightly later production date. It is in apparently good cosmetic condition having formed part of an overseas collection.
