The Sovereign moniker has been applied to a number of luxury Daimler and Jaguar models over the years. The Daimler concerning us here was launched in 1966 and based on the Jaguar 420. Readily differentiated from its Jaguar stablemate by the traditional Daimler fluted radiator grille, it was powered by a 4.2-litre version of Jaguar's all-conquering DOHC XK engine. This was coupled to either a four-speed manual/overdrive gearbox or Model 8 Borg Warner automatic transmission. The most sumptuous of the two 420s, the Daimler had all the Jaguar's extras as standard, including heated rear window and power steering. The quality of the interior trim was also a grade higher, all of which was reflected in the price - £1,678 for the Jaguar with automatic transmission and £1,787 for the similarly-equipped Daimler.
This right-hand drive 1967 Sovereign features Willow Green bodywork teamed with Light Brown leather upholstery and is equipped with the automatic transmission. It has apparently remained in the same ownership for the last 34 years and is thought to have had just one keeper prior to that. The vendor currently regards the bodywork, paintwork, interior, engine and transmission of `GBM 753E' to all be in "good" order and is selling it with an MOT valid into May 2013.
PLEASE NOTE: This vehicle has an MOT until August 2013.
