Lot details Registration No: LAS 261 Frame No: 26324 Engine No: 58MS249C cc: 598
Built in Cleckheaton, Yorkshire, Panther's had an enviable reputation for their sturdiness and longevity. Their long stroke 600cc engine made them ideal for use with a sidecar and has resulted in tales of "stump pulling" torque and firing intervals measured in lampposts passing into motorcycling folklore. By 1957 the majority of the Model 100's sold were equipped with a pivoted fork frame although a few, such as the one offered were built with rigid frames.
This particular machine was rebuilt from a basket case. It is described by the vendor as being in good condition throughout and is attractively presented with black paintwork. Hardened valve seats enabling the use of unleaded fuel have been fitted with the mixture being controlled by an Amal Concentric carburettor. An electronic regulator has replaced the original and stainless fastenings have been employed wherever possible. The tradesmans box sidecar body is fitted to a Canterbury chassis. A Swansea V5C for the age related number, Panther Owners Club dating certificate and a road fund licence valid until the 30th November 2007 are offered with the machine.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
