Lot details Registration No: DGA 541 Chassis No: 42553 Mot Expiry: Oct 2005
The Talbot name has been used for three distinctly different makes of car - the London-built British Talbot, the French Talbot or Talbot-Lago, and the Anglo-French Talbots of the 1980s, which were really Chryslers renamed following Peugeot's takeover of Chrysler's Euro-operations. The original British Talbot firm was taken over by the Rootes Group in 1935. The former Talbot Ten, launched by Rootes at the 1935 Olympia Show and by now being made at their Barlby Road works, was renamed Sunbeam-Talbot for the 1938 Show.
The vendor of this 1939 Sunbeam Talbot tells us that the right-hand drive saloon has a good chassis with four-door bodywork good for its age, and blue paintwork and blue leather interior both average. Both 1141cc four-cylinder engine and four-speed gearbox are also reportedly in good order. The 69,700 miles displayed when entered for this sale is believed to be the genuine total mileage for the car from new. The current MOT will be valid until October next year and the tax disc will not require renewal until next May.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
