The V8 was Aston Martin`s most successful model ever, enjoying a record breaking run of production from 1969 through the changes of ownership and financial upheavals of the 1970`s until 1988 with 2,919 cars sold. The model was described by the late Victor Gauntlett, former Aston Martin Chairman as "a stylish thoroughbred, beautifully built, luxurious, fast and immensely safe," The model appeared in countless variants, one of the more exclusive being the Series IV `Oscar India`. Introduced to the public in 1978, the obvious differences were the revised bonnet and a boot lid tail spoiler. However the interior was completely re-styled becoming even more opulent with the wood-embellished fascia, re-designed centre console, leather headlining and improved air conditioning. Automatic transmission was standard.
This example was manufactured for the 1980 Olympia Motor Show stand (an additional 200 man hours were spent in manufacturing the Motor Show cars) as distinguished by the console-mounted silver-gilt plaque (illustrated) and has had four careful owners. This impeccable motor car comes with the original warranty papers, owners handbook and a full service history together with a most impressive history file detailing in excess of £50,000 worth of recent renovation by the last owner including new inner and outer sills a complete bare metal respray and full mechanical re-build.
The Aston Martin is finished in Buckinghamshire green metallic paintwork, magnolia hide upholstery with dark green carpets and piping. Special equipment includes central locking, headrests, auxiliary spotlights, lambswool overmats and car covers.
