Royal Enfield had traditionally reserved the Bullet name for their sporting variants during the pre-war years and continued the tradition in 1948 with the announcement of a new 350cc model. The Bullet had created a sensation when the first prototypes competed in the 1948 Colmore Cup equipped with the forthcoming models main innovation, a pivoted fork frame. When Motor Cycling tested a 1950 example they found that it was capable of reaching 74 mph and returning 80 mpg. By 1952, when the example offered was built, the unsightly sprung front mudguard had been replaced with a more attractive un-sprung item.
This machine was restored by a previous owner and is described as being in very good condition in all respects, although the electrical system is not currently charging, possibly, it is suggested, due to the regulator points being reluctant after a period of inactivity. A Mot certificate and road fund licence valid until May 2007 are supplied with the machine.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
