Introduced in late 1928, the Rover 10/25 was an evolution of the 9/20. Based around a sturdy ladder-frame chassis, it utilised all-round leaf-sprung suspension and four-wheel drum brakes. Rated at 10hp for taxation purposes, but quoted as developing some 25bhp, the newcomer's 1185cc OHV four-cylinder engine was allied to three-speed manual transmission. In order to minimise weight and maximise performance, Rover made the 10/25 available with a range of Weymann fabric-covered bodies, and priced at £250 the so-called Riviera Saloon came with a full-length sunroof. A full four/five-seater, it was capable of a 55mph top speed. Progressively refined, the 10/25 made the switch from magneto to coil ignition during 1929, with Rubery Owen wire wheels becoming an option the same year. Surprisingly few of the 15,000 10/25s sold between by 1933 have survived to this day.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
