Lot details Registration No: FTV 10V Chassis No: SRH 38295 Mot Expiry: June 2004
It was in 1977, when the long-wheelbase Shadow was renamed the Silver Wraith II, that the previous Shadow became the Shadow II. At the same time, such improvements as rack and pinion steering, split-level air conditioning and a rather racey spoiler at the front were incorporated. A total of 8422 Shadow IIs were made, the car on offer being one of them.
The 1979-manufactured, right-hand drive Red Label model has air-conditioning and headlamp wash-wipe as standard. Unlike so many Shadows, this one has the benefit of being in possession of full service history, while the Gloucestershire owner tells us that the exhaust has been renewed and the brakes overhauled. Current condition of walnut over honey painted bodywork is said to be excellent as is the beige interior piped in brown. Although the 6750cc 8-cylinder engine has a slight oil leak, the 4-speed automatic transmission is reportedly in good order, whilst the 114,230 miles displayed when entered is believed to be the total mileage from new.
For the record, before being replaced by the Silver Spirit/Bentley Mulsanne in 1980, the Silver Shadow/Bentley T Type is likely to have been the most successful R-R model ever, with over 32,000 cars sold. These days, all Shadows represent huge and luxurious value for your money, this Shadow II being no exception. MOTd until June and with current tax disc running until December, FTV 10F is ready to drive away from today's sale.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
