Lot details Registration No: ULB197W Chassis No: IGIAY8762B2540363 Mot Expiry: May 2007
Introduced three years after Chevrolet's wonderfully dramatic 1965 Mako Shark II show car, the so-called 'C3' Corvette borrowed heavily from its design exercise sibling's 'coke bottle' silhouette. Underpinned by a perimeter frame chassis featuring all-round independent suspension, recirculating ball steering and four-wheel disc brakes, the newcomer's beautifully moulded fibreglass skin was renowned for its quality and durability. Powered by a series of rumbling V8 engines culminating in a 350ci (5.7litre) unit, the 'C3' remained in production for an impressive fourteen years.
Finished in white with black upholstery, this particular left-hand drive example was imported from West Virginia in 2004. Treated to some £2,000 worth of fettling by Corvette Kingdom before entering the current ownership in August 2005, 'ULB 197W' has since benefited from a thorough overhaul at the hands of Gant Speed Engineering. Carried out in May 2006, the work totalled some £13,318.67 and included attention to the car's automatic transmission, power steering, radiator, wiring, brakes and engine mounts. Riding on alloy wheels, this pampered Corvette is offered for sale with history file, sundry invoices and MOT certificate valid until May 16th 2007.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
