Lot details Registration No: 22 XMG Chassis No: GHN5210345 Mot Expiry: Aug 2007
Cornerstone of the British classic car industry, the MGB has a seemingly unshakeable grip on enthusiasts' hearts. Able to keep up with (and overtake) modern traffic, its straightforward design and excellent spare parts availability make it easy to maintain. Equipped with independent front suspension, disc / drum brakes and rack and pinion steering, it forces precious few compromises on the modern motorist.
Finished in red with black leather upholstery, this particular example is described by the vendor as being in "A1" condition with regard to its 1798cc engine, four-speed manual plus overdrive gearbox, electrical equipment, interior trim, chassis, bodywork, paintwork and wheels / tyres. Said to have been previously owned by James Harrop (former chairman of the High Peak MG Owners' Club and partner in Melvin James Classic Cars Ltd), '22 XMG' is believed but not warranted to have covered some 32,400 miles since undergoing an extensive restoration that included the fitting of a replacement heritage bodyshell. Riding on chrome wire wheels, the roadster sports a walnut dashboard, stainless steel boot rack, full / half tonneau covers, auxiliary driving lights and sill guards. While under the bonnet, its alloy rocker cover is complemented by twin K&N filters. Generously specified, this appealing MGB is offered for sale with MOT certificate valid until August 14th 2007.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
