Lot details Registration No: PR 8828 Chassis No: GYK46 Mot Expiry: Exempt
According to its accompanying copy chassis card, GYK 46 (Works No. 1791) was despatched on 20th October 1926 to Hooper & Co Ltd who were commissioned to produce the enclosed landaulette coachwork. In May 1927 it was delivered via Edwards & Co (Bournemouth) Ltd to its first owner, a doctor's wife by the name of Mrs Hillaby, who was resident in the town. Understood to have been chauffeur driven during the ownership of its first two custodians, the car was acquired by a T F Landell of Anchorage, Garelochhead in August 1934. A well known car in RREC circles, following its purchase in 1962 by Barry Harris, the vendor's late-husband, it was maintained by Lex Mead of Bristol and enjoyed on a host of rallies and events both in the UK and Europe. Barry Harris was a meticulous owner, who kept the car in fine mechanical order, whilst retaining the coachwork patination as a constant.
Finished in Maroon / Black with much patinated black leather to the front seats and Bedford cord to the rear separated by a glass sliding division - both compartments having been retrimmed in early 1966 (invoice on file), this elegant 20hp is accompanied by a history file containing invoices dating from 1954 (including bills from both Ristes and Fiennes), copy chassis card, assorted expired MoTs dating from 1963, two copy continuation logbooks dating from 1932 to 1966, sundry correspondence including letters from the original owner's son and the second owner's chauffeur, mascot, two town caps and Swansea V5 document. The car is MoT exempt.
PLEASE NOTE: There is only one town cap with this vehicle.
