With the `Shadow II' of 1977 came rack-and-pinion steering, revised front suspension geometry, and a change of carburettors, exhaust and cooling fans. More visible were the rubber-tipped bumpers, a deeper radiator shell, different door handles with more deeply recessed buttons, the bib spoiler below the front bumper and a new style door mirror that was adjustable from inside the car.
This handsome-looking Silver-coloured example was ordered new by the Iraqi embassy for the use of its Ambassador. After two decades' service it was re-registered and spent the next six years as a funeral car. The vendor informs us that some £18,000 has been spent on `LGH 448T' in the last three years alone - the work included a full hydraulic overhaul, and new near and offside lower rear wings and nearside wheelarch. Displayed at the NEC Classic Car Show, Tatton and Silverstone Classic, the Rolls is now being sold complete with: Cat 1 alarm; a copy of the factory build records, original order form, invoice and correspondence; the original service book (8 dealer stamps up to 1985 and specialists thereafter, the most recent of which is a Ristes Motors one); receipts for work done and diplomatic flagmast and plates for show purposes. The vendor regards the indicated mileage of 72,300 as correct and the Shadow is MOT'd until August 2013.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
