Lot details Registration No: Un-Reg Chassis No: CRB15052
Named after a region famous for its twisting roads and picture postcard scenery, the Corniche fixed head was introduced in 1971. Styled in-house by Bill Allen, it was available in both Rolls-Royce and Bentley guises. Considerably more expensive than its humbler four-door brethren, it also proved more involving to drive thanks to the provision of firmer springs, thicker anti-roll bars and revised steering geometry. Conceived as a high-speed express capable of covering great distances with minimal effort, its cocooning four-seater cabin was bedecked in soft hides, plush carpets and beautifully finished wood veneers. Further enhanced by a tuned, low-loss exhaust version of Crewe's staple 6750cc V8 engine mated to automatic transmission its self-levelling rear suspension and plethora of electric motors made for an enjoyably cosseting experience. Curtailed after eleven years, Rolls-Royce Corniche Fixed Head Coupe production is thought to have amounted to just 1,108 cars.
Finished in white with cream leather upholstery, this particular left-hand drive example is variously described by the vendor as being in "good" (interior trim, bodywork, paintwork) or "very good" (engine, automatic transmission, electrical equipment) condition. Imported from the USA earlier this year, it sports a beige everflex roof, auxiliary high-level rear brake light, chrome wheelarch trims and slimband whitewall tyres. Ideally suited to continental touring thanks to its left-hand drive configuration, this stylish Rolls-Royce is worthy of close inspection.
PLEASE NOTE: This vehicle has been imported into Eire from America (duty paid) and the vendor anticipates but does not guarantee that it will possess Eire registration documents / plates by the time of sale.
