Lot details Registration No: PWC 380 Chassis No: 1962J004 Mot Expiry: N/A
Ever since Jaguar started making small-run, even more sporting versions of their cars for motor sport, such as the C-Type and then the D-Type Jaguars which excelled at Le Mans and in other sportscar races all over the world, other enthusiasts, such as Brian Lister of Lister-Jaguar fame, have exploited the potential of employing Jaguar engines from the 3.4 six to the 5.3-litre V12 - not to mention transmission, steering, suspension and brake components fitted to the production cars - to create their own Jaguar sports-specials.
Although having a V5 registration document and officially being dated as being a 1962 vehicle, chassis number 1962J004 with 3.8-litre XK motor and open two-seater sports bodywork fashioned from aluminium painted green is believed by the vendor to have been built during the late 1960s.
The Jaguar six-cylinder engine currently fitted is claimed to be rather special, too, having been blue-printed by non other than marque engineer Ron Beatty and equipped with triple SU carburettors, while a period Moss-built four-speed manual gearbox and Dunlop alloys are fitted. Supposedly raced successfully at the famous Aintree circuit, this purposeful-looking Jaguar special has not been offered for sale for the past fifteen years and, although unused recently, the engine reportedly does turn over. Considering its potential for historic and Jaguar marque racing not to mention speed eventing, PWC 380 has a most attractive guide price. For apart from looking fun, this Jag special could be serious fun to enjoy on the circuits or up the hills.
