PLEASE NOTE: This Breakdown Wagon is based on a Leyland Beaver chassis (and not a Leyland Badger one as previously stated).
An article about the lorry appeared in the 13th July 1934 issue of Commercial Motor:
'Leyland Motors, Ltd., is building an interesting breakdown wagon for the Mersey Tunnel authorities in order that the tunnel can be quickly cleared of any vehicle which has been involved in an accident, or has come to a standstill from some other cause. The basis of the machine is a Leyland Beaver chassis and the equipment will include a Morris 8-ton swivel-type breakdown crane; two adjustable supporting jacks will be employed to relieve the chassis springs when the crane is in use. Additionally, the chassis will carry a six-ton two-wheeled ambulance with towing pole and a 15-ton four-wheeled ambulance, whilst it will be fitted with a towing bar for dealing with gross loads up to 24 tons'.
