Offered here is a 1969-built Austin Mini Cooper Mk2, a right-hand drive two-door. One of the rarest of the classic Minis, the Mk2 was produced for barely two years before being replaced by the Mini 1000 based Mk3.
This restored example was rebuilt over a two year period June 1998 to December 1999, the body stripped to the bare shell, renovated with new panels and treated against subsequent corrosion before being painted in Almond Green and Old English White. Instead of standard black trim, the interior has been enhanced with the green trim employed for the Almond Green Mk1s.
Mechanical items were also rebuilt or replaced. The engine, a 998cc four-cylinder, was also rebuilt to run on unleaded. Some subtle changes have been made, such as an alarm system and electronic ignition, and a period pod-mounted rev counter added.
Photos of the late 1990s restoration are included. Whilst current overall condition of body, paintwork, interior, motor, transmission and electric items are described by the vendor as excellent. The 93,822 mileage displayed when entered is believed by him to be the genuine total. The MOT will be valid until November.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
