Developed under the watchful eye of Porsche Chief Executive Peter Schutz, the 911 Carrera 3.2 made its debut at the September 1983 Frankfurt Motor Show. Visually indebted to the outgoing 911 SC, the newcomer wore a revised front valance complete with auxiliary driving lamps and a subtle 'Carrera' script on its engine lid. Available in coupe, targa and cabriolet guises, it remained faithful to established 911 practice by employing all-round independent torsion-bar suspension, four-wheel disc brakes and rack and pinion steering. Estimated to be 80% new, the model's 3164cc (hence '3.2') flat-six engine was credited with developing some 231bhp and 209lbft of torque. Allied to five-speed transmission, it proved both rev-happy and flexible. Reputedly capable of 0-60mph in 5.3 seconds and 153mph, the Carrera 3.2 was progressively developed over the course of its six-year production run.
Finished in silver with red leather upholstery, this particular example is described by the vendor as being in "very good overall" condition. Stated to have covered just 56,000 miles from new (a figure apparently substantiated by "extensive service history"), 'C765 VPK' is also understood to retain its original "handbook, manual and spare key". Reportedly the subject of "recent servicing", it boasts an "as new" interior. Riding on alloy wheels, this low mileage 911 is offered for sale with MOT certificate valid until July 2009.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
