In production for only four years, the XJC V12 coupe was therefore one of the rarest of the many Jaguar models made. In its day, it was also one of the most expensive British cars. Offered here is one of them, a Jaguar XJ 5.3 C which first left the Coventry factory in 1978. The current owner, who has been the keeper since 1996, tells us that the 2-door coupe with V12 motor, even more unusual with auto-shift, has had only two former keepers.
The current condition of the bodyshell is described as good with brown painted body panels and beige interior both also said to be in good condition. The 5.3-litre 12-cylinder engine is reportedly in very good order and the 3-speed automatic transmission also good.
The 41,544 miles displayed when entered is believed by the vendor to the genuine total mileage from new. According to the certificate on file, the MOT test will not need to be passed again until next May. Lovely to look at, great to drive.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
