Lot details Registration No: 135 FXA Chassis No: 162753DN Mot Expiry: Mar 2005
The Mk2 Jaguar has become the definitive sports saloon. In period, despite having lots of luxurious wood and leather within, the model excelled on racing circuits where it dominated the leaders boards of the high profile production saloon car events at Silverstone, Goodwood, Oulton Park, Snetterton and Mallory Park.
This Mk2 3.4 was built at the Browns Lane plant 1 March 1963. The chassis and engine numbers on the car today still all match the details on the 2004 Production Record Trace Certificate from the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust in the documents file. The original righthand drive saloon, equipped with manual gearbox and overdrive, was first supplied to distributor/dealer Henlys Limited for first owners Messrs H W Morgan of London N1. The original 135 FXA registration issued to the car is still in place.
According to the current owner, the sports saloon was in receipt of some restoration work several years ago when the wheels, tyres and exhaust were renewed, the latter in stainless steel. Since this refurbishment, the car has been well maintained and drives well, he says. The 4-door bodywork, above and below, as well as the silver paintwork are said to be in excellent condition, the re-Connolised leather still original and very good. The 3398cc 6-cylinder motor, electrical equipment and 4-speed manual transmission with overdrive are all reportedly in excellent order, too, whilst MOT test certificate and tax-exempt disc will not require renewing until March 2005.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
