Lot details Registration No: 772 GF Chassis No: OH9572 Mot Expiry: Exempt
First registered on 19th March 1930 and delivered to the Farquarson family of Dorset, OH9572 is an early production model without camshaft idler gear. In 1936 it was acquired by Captain Ivan Forshaw and, according to Club publications, was his first Lagonda and kept by him until after the war. In 1946 he wrote a description of the car for the Register Notes and a copy accompanies the lot. Recorded as car no.3 in the Two Litre Register, it then passed through the ownership of a Rev. Martin Harvey and the late David Harvey being found in a dismantled state and restored by Peter Jacobs around 1980. Bulletin no.118 details the work and a copy is on file.
Previously registered GF 772, the car was exported to New Zealand and re-imported to the UK in 1992 when it was given the number 772 GF. In the current family ownership since its return, the car carries a delightful patina to the interior and remains remarkably original under the bonnet retaining its twin Zenith Lion carburettors and Autovac system. Featuring a lower ratio 3rd gear to improve driveability the car has been regularly exercised by the vendor and maintained by Tim Wellack who carried out work on the engine in 2013. The striking blue wheels were also repainted that same year. The engine and transmission are said to be "good" with electrics all working whilst the fabric body presents well. Some blemishes to the paintwork are present but we have to concur with the vendor's view that the car should be driven more than polished. Offered with weather gear and history file including copy old-style logbook, assorted MoT certificates and Club bulletins featuring the car, it is expected to possess a current MoT certificate by the time of sale.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
