Following the success of the Pantah racer in 1980 Ducati introduced the TT2 for the 1981 season. The new model marked the return of the factory as an official entry to international road racing and introduced cantilever rear suspension. The new frame design was the creation of Fabio Taglioni and manufactured by Verlicchi. In the hands of Tony Rutter the TT2 quickly established itself as the dominant force in the World Formula Two Championship, taking the title in 1981,'82 and '83. A threat hung over the TT2 class for 1984 prompting the development of the 750 TT1 to compete in the larger class and endurance racing.
This machine has been built by Two Wheel Classic using a new Verlicchi replica frame housing a 650cc engine equipped with 36mm Dell'Orto carburettors, Kokosan ignition and Quill exhausts. A new race harness, cables and throttles have been fitted. 38mm Ceriani forks grace the front end with braking being provided by Brembo and 280mm discs and 18 inch Campagnolo wheels are employed. New TT1 bodywork, finished in red and yellow, has been fitted as have new rear sets.
