Colin Chapman was responsible for some of the major innovations and developments in the motoring industry through his Lotus Company and his tragic early death robbed the industry of yet another very colourful character.
This privately entered 1973 +2 S130/5 Elan has been professionally changed for a fixed head to a convertible and a full nut and bolt chassis-up rebuild was completed at the same time. A fully galvanised chassis was fitted and everything that wasn't renewed was shot blasted and powder coated. The suspension was rebuilt as were the brakes and the engine and gearbox were overhauled and virtually everything else has been either replaced or reconditioned.
Lotus never made a convertible 2+2's but this particular example has been strengthened in all the correct places and we recommend that you go through the history before the sale as it has more space to paint a complete picture of the car than we have. An excellent car and what a head turner!
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
