Lot details Registration No: EOE950K Chassis No: 9112210156 Mot Expiry: March 2013
Porsche's 911 is an automotive phenomenon like no other. Its tail heavy configuration has been described as a 'triumph of engineering over design' and its maker sought to pension it off as much as 35 years ago. Yet it is still with us, still being developed and refined, and still frequently trouncing the opposition on road and track. In 1968, the model's wheelbase was increased by 57mm and the rear overhang reduced by the same amount. The following year the engine capacity was enlarged to 2.2-litres and then to 2.4-litres in 1971. The latter examples were offered in three levels of tune, namely: T (130bhp), E (165bhp) and S (190bhp).
This 1971 Targa-topped 911E has been converted from left to right-hand drive and was recently the subject of a very extensive restoration that was thoroughly recorded in no less than 1,000 photographs. 'EOE 950K' was repainted in its original colour of Yellow, the interior retrimmed in Black leatherette, the engine refurbished by Tom Ferguson of Newcastle and converted to run on carburettors - the gearbox, brakes and steering were also all attended to as required. The vendor now classes the bodywork as "immaculate" and the paintwork, interior trim, engine and transmission as "excellent". This very smart-looking Porsche is MOT'd until the end of October.
PLEASE NOTE: This vehicle has an MOT until March 2013.
