1994 Daimler Double Six Majestic
Very rare and under 40,000 miles from new

Lot details

Registration No: M143 FVC
Chassis No: SAJDKAM53AR686727
MOT: June 2023

  • 1 of just 121 Daimler Double Six Majestics ever made by Project Aerospace in Coventry
  • Under 40,000 miles from new at the time of consignment
  • Features fixtures and fittings installed when new by Jaguar’s Special Vehicle Operations Department
  • Documented service history and recent invoices displaying expenditure of over £1,200
  • Offered from a substantial private collection of predominantly British classics

The Jaguar XJ Series and its even more luxuriously appointed Daimler counterparts were introduced in 1968. Some four years into production a 12-cylinder 5.3-litre XJ was offered for the first time, the Daimler versions of which were dubbed the Double Six; thereby reviving a famous Daimler model name of the vintage era. The later variants (XJ81 and X305) produced between 1993 and 1997 featured a 6.0-litre variant of the silky smooth V12 engine mated to GM's equally impressive new 4L80E four-speed automatic transmission.

Beginning life as a standard XJ40 production saloon, the Daimler Double Six Majestic offered was provided to Project Aerospace in Coventry, specialists in low production modifications. Under their care, the rear end was moved back by 5 inches, the height increased by 2 inches, and many other bespoke modifications were made to become a long-wheelbase example. One of just 121 produced, the Daimler subsequently was returned to Jaguar’s Special Vehicle Operations department, where the fixtures and fittings were installed, including a limousine style interior including picnic tables and individual rear seats.

Understood to have been supplied new to Jaguar Cars Ltd., the Majestic is finished in the attractive colour combination of Kingfisher Blue paintwork with Ivory leather interior upholstery. Having covered some 39,800 miles at the time of consignment, the Daimler has been driven less than 2,000 miles since 2010. Purchased by the vendor for inclusion in his large private collection of predominantly British classics, ‘M143 FVC’ had resided in the Jaguar Heritage collection prior to the vendor's acquisition.

Recently benefitting from improvements totalling over £1,200, the Daimler is rated as ‘very good to excellent’ throughout by the vendor. Accompanied by a history file that includes the original book pack in the Daimler wallet with the stamped service book, a large collection of invoices and previous MOTs, a current V5C document, and a no advisory MOT certificate until June. Exceptionally rare, this is surely the perfect addition to any enthusiast’s collection, and is due to be driven some sixty miles to the sale.

Vendor Condition Ratings:

Bodywork: 'Very Good to Excellent'
Engine: 'Excellent'
Electrical Equipment: 'Excellent'
Paintwork: 'Very Good to Excellent'
Transmission: 'Excellent'
Interior Trim: 'Very Good to Excellent'
