Though Daimler's DB18 model was introduced in 1939, most examples were manufactured post-WW2. Known as the 2½ litre or Consort, it was available in a variety of open and closed guises (though, most were bodied as four-door saloons). Foursome Drophead Coupe designs were produced by both Tickford and Barker, while the latter coachbuilder was also responsible for a more rakish Special Sports derivative. Powered by a six-cylinder OHV engine of 2522cc, the DB18 could reach 50mph in 16 seconds and some 80-85mph flat out.
The right-hand drive Foursome Drophead Coupe on offer was manufactured in 1948 and exported to France during September 1951, where it remained until recently. Whilst there the Daimler was apparently serviced by British Motors of Monte Carlo, and the vendor informs us that it was the winner of several prizes in its younger days - eg the 'Ville de Mougins: Voitures d'Epoque et de Prestige' in circa 1978. Interestingly, the four-seater is understood to have never been restored or even repainted and is therefore finished in its original colour of Loch Blue and trimmed in Dark Blue leather. The DB18 is being sold complete with original tool kit, owner's manual, sales catalogue and other literature, spare parts and AA and RAC badges. A unique opportunity to secure a seemingly unmolested period Daimler.
