Mot Expiry: June 2013

The immortal E-Type Jaguar still has a unique ability to excite enthusiasts of all generations, its Malcolm Sayer-penned lines thought by many to be among the most striking ever to adorn a motor car. It initially sported the same version of the ubiquitous XK engine that powered the last of the XK150 Ss, which was mated to a manual four-speed Moss box with synchromesh on the top three ratios. The suspension was independent all round and the newcomer featured power-assisted disc brakes - inboard at the rear. A total of 15,498 3.8-litre E-types are said to have been built, 7,828 of which were Roadsters.

This extremely handsome example began life as a left-hand drive federal model that was manufactured on October 24th 1963 and despatched to Jaguar Cars New York on November 11th. Having returned to these shores during the late 1990s, it was purchased by the noted St Helens-based Jaguar restorer Laurence Dyas, who proceeded to extensively restore the E-Type; converting it to right-hand drive in the process. The thorough refurbishment included the replacement of many panels, and a photographic record of the all the work carried out is available for inspection. The completed car returned to the road in September 1997, since when the run of MOT certificates would suggest it has covered just 186 miles, winning several concours competitions in the process. A Jaguar Heritage certificate confirms the retention of the original engine and gearbox; also the original colour combination of Red bodywork and Tan leather upholstery.

This lovingly refurbished motorcar is now being auctioned by the restorer's wife owing to his untimely death, and is currently considered by her to have "excellent" bodywork, paintwork and interior trim, and "very good" six-cylinder XK engine and four-speed manual gearbox. The Jaguar comes complete with an MOT into August this year. Still riding on a high from their 50th anniversary year, good E-Types rightly remain in strong demand.

PLEASE NOTE: This vehicle has an MOT until June 2013.

All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
