Lot details Registration No: N59 BNN Chassis No: ECR33016444 Mot Expiry: April 2012
The lineage of the Nissan Skyline can be traced right back to 1955 and the Prince Motor Company that was to merge with Nissan some eleven years later. The model is also famous for its legendary GT-R variants that, by 2007, had evolved into a range of their own and spawned one of the great drivers' cars of the twenty-first century. The Skyline iterations R30 to R34 that spanned the period 1981 to 2002 remain very popular with Japanese car enthusiasts to this day, their readily tuneable chassis and engines making them ideal for fast road use, trackdays and drifting competitions. The Kozo Watanabe-penned front-engined, rear-wheel drive R33 model was produced from 1993 to 1998, during which time over 217,000 four-door Saloons and two-door Coupes were produced. It was a larger, more modern looking car than its predecessor, with smooth lines replacing the hard-edged style of the R32. All versions were powered by straight-six engines ranging in capacity from 2.0 to 2.8-litres. In intercooled turbo form, the DOHC 2.5-litre unit produced some 250bhp and a healthy 295Nm of torque. Suspension was by multi-link systems front and rear, braking by ventilated discs all round (four pot callipers front/two pot callipers rear) and steering by rack and pinion. As with most Japanese cars, the standard specification was extensive and, depending on the market, included: rear spoiler and window wiper; anti-lock braking; limited slip differential; air conditioning; electric windows; central locking and leather steering wheel.
The Nissan on sale is a right-hand drive Skyline GTS 2.5 Turbo two-door Coupe manufactured in December 1997. It has Gunmetal Grey bodywork teamed with a Grey cloth interior and is equipped with a five-speed manual gearbox. 'N59 BNN' was reportedly a one-owner, standard specification car when imported to the UK in 2000 and had been serviced annually using genuine Nissan parts, garaged all the year round and not used at all in the winter months. It rides on forged alloy Compomotive wheels shod with Goodyear Eagle tyres and is currently regarded by the vendor as having "above average" bodywork and "good" paintwork, interior trim, engine and gearbox. The Skyline comes complete with MOT into April 2012.
