Lot details Registration No: XCC773V Chassis No: AM122.A.575 Mot Expiry: None
Essentially a junior version of the mighty V8-powered Bora, the Giugiaro-designed Merak differed in having V6 power courtesy of Citröen (the unit was the same as that employed by the Citröen SM), a small rear seat and flying buttresses in place of the glassed-in rear quarters of the Bora. Being lighter, the Merak also boasted more nimble handling than its big brother. The most potent version of the model, the SS, boasted some 217bhp - sufficient to power the Maserati to 60mph in 7.6 seconds and on to a top speed of almost 145mph.
This right-hand drive Merak SS sports Red bodywork teamed with Magnolia-coloured leather upholstery, Black dash top and carpets, and Red Maserati-logoed mats. It was first registered in March 1980 and currently displays an unwarranted 70,715 miles. The 2+2-seater has apparently undergone a complete rolling restoration that was carried out over a number of years by the previous owner, who owned his own engineering company and employed specialist services as required. Known to Maserati aficionados Bill McGrath Ltd, 'XCC 773V' is considered by the vendor to be in "first class condition throughout" and is being sold complete with history file including MOTs dating back to 1983, plus one valid into September next year. A fine-looking example of an iconic Italian supercar.
PLEASE NOTE: This vehicle does not have an MOT.
PLEASE NOTE: The file of MOTs dates back to 1993 and not 1983 as stated in the catalogue.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
