Lot details Registration No: JT 2212 Chassis No: 310660 Mot Expiry: Dec 2005
This Standard Little Nine was made in Coventry in 1935. Only around forty of these excellent small four-door saloons survive, this particular example in green over black with green leatherette interior having been fully rebuilt 1993-1998. Interestingly, details of the work done are contained in a time capsule, which has been stored in the headlining.
This refurbishment is said to have cost £5500 with many hundreds of hours of labour on top having been freely given, the 1052cc four-cylinder motor rebuild costing £1200 alone. Work included replacement cylinder head, block rebored to 40 thou and pistons renewed, new white metal bearings and crankshaft reground, new valves, springs and timing chain, and clutch replaced. The retrim employed horsehair, as originally used, the skilled work being carried out by ex-Main Agent trimmer Bernard Oldham of Nelson.
The vendor tells us that during his ownership this has been an ideal little car for showing, proving reliable without incurring unforeseen expenditure. Taxed and tested, to April of next year and to December of this respectively, there is no reason why JT 2212 cannot do the same for a successful bidder here today.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
