Lot details Registration No: HRF693N Chassis No: 2T10043BW Mot Expiry: March 2006
Introduced in 1973, the Series II version of Jaguar's iconic XJ6 boasted subtly revised styling with a slimmer radiator grille, new front valance / air intake, re-profiled lights and a fresh interior. Available in either short- or long-wheelbase guises (though the latter was standardised in 1975), it was equipped with all round coil-sprung suspension, disc brakes and power-assisted rack and pinion steering. Fitted with automatic transmission as standard, it was reputedly capable of over 120mph thanks to its effortlessly potent 4235cc XK dohc straight-six engine. Justly feted by the contemporary motoring press, it remained a benchmark in luxury car design throughout its six year production life.
Finished in white with red vinyl upholstery, this particular example is described by the vendor as being in good (chassis, bodywork, paintwork, electrical equipment, interior trim, wheels / tyres) to excellent (engine, gearbox) condition. A long wheelbase model, it has reportedly been "used as a wedding car on a regular basis for the last eight years". Said to have been "regularly serviced" with its "paintwork attended to and chassis undersealed", it is believed but not warranted to have covered 63,469 miles. A potential money spinner, it is offered for sale with MOT certificate valid until March 29th 2006 and road tax until October 2005.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
